ABSTRACT:

The objective of this paper was to determine the removal capacity of compound dye remazol orange present in textile wastewater, using the adsorption process with activated carbon, based on pH and the dye concentration. The methodology involved the preparation of samples with concentrations of 100 to 600 ppm of dye to pH of 3, 7 and 9; the obtaining of isotherms adjusted to the Langmuir and Freundlich models; and the determination of the concentration of the dye through a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results indicated a better dye removal efficiency at pH 3, concluding that at higher pH the adsorption capacity decreases, mainly due to the electrostatic interactions that are generated between the surface of the adsorbent and the dye.
