ABSTRACT:
This paperpresentsamodularMatlabtool,namelyMORPHEO,devotedtothestudyofparticle morphologybyFourieranalysis.Abenchmarkmadeoffoursampleimageswithdifferentfeatures (digitizedcoins,apebblechart,gears,digitizedvolcanicclasts)isthenproposedtoassesstheabilitiesof the software.AttentionisbroughttotheWeibulldistributionintroducedtoenhancefinevariationsof particle morphology.Finally,asanexample,samplespertainingtoalahardepositlocatedinLaLumbre ravine (ColimaVolcano,Mexico)areanalysed.MORPHEOandthebenchmarkarefreelyavailablefor researchpurposes.
